Silicon Melt BASCO – Karaganda, Kazakhstan

The Technology

Because of its high purity level silicon from Kazakhstan is particularly well suited for further processing. It is melted together with additives in special-purpose furnaces at extremely high temperatures. The versatilely usable silicon metal derived from that process is exclusively marketed. It is required not only for the production of aluminum or of steel:  The chemical industry is refined it into polysilicon, which is suitable among other for use in solar collectors.

Through other forms of processing it can be utilized in the manufacture of semiconductors. ThyssenKrupp Mannex as GU and SMS Siemag as a supplier of the smelter plant have constructed  together a complete plant in the near Karaganda in Kazakhstan. The company Loibl from Straubing was commissioned with the delivery of the complete loading technology including electrical engineering.
